The Firm: Bevans' commercial litigation department is heavily focused on financial services matters and acts for both investors and financial advisers. The team excels at representing clients who have lost money in offshore funds, currently acting in a series of such cases ranging from £50,000 to £3.5 million in value. It also advises on all aspects of domestic mis-sellings and has been representing clients who sustained losses during the Equitable Life crisis. Over the past year, the firm’s expansion of its work for financial advisers led to a role advising an independent financial adviser on FSA compliance issues. The team, however, possesses more than enough experience to handle a wide variety of contentious commercial work, including insurance, professional negligence, employment and IT/IP-related disputes. Mediation is another important element of the practice, and three of the four team members are accredited mediators.
